Common questions about cost and insurance

Does MFE take my insurance?

We accept most major PPO and fee-for-service plans, including Aetna, Delta Dental, Cigna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Guardian, Humana, MetLife, United Concordia, and Ameritas. Plans change often, so call your nearest MFE location to confirm your specific coverage.

How much will my treatment cost?

Cost depends on the tooth, the procedure, and your insurance plan, so there is no single price. Once we examine the tooth and verify your benefits, we provide a clear estimate before any treatment begins. Call your nearest office for an estimate for your situation.

Will you check my benefits before my appointment?

Yes. Each office has an insurance coordinator who verifies your benefits ahead of time and explains what your plan covers. You will know your estimated portion before treatment starts, with no surprise charges after the fact.

What if I do not have dental insurance?

You are welcome at MFE with or without insurance. We accept cash and major credit cards and offer financing through CareCredit so you can spread payments over time. Your nearest office can walk you through the options.

What is CareCredit?

CareCredit is a healthcare financing option that lets you pay for treatment over time, often with interest-free plans on qualifying care. Many patients use it to make treatment fit their budget. Ask your MFE office how to apply.

Is a root canal worth the cost compared with pulling the tooth?

In most cases, keeping your natural tooth is the more economical choice over time. An extraction often leads to the added cost of an implant or bridge to replace the missing tooth. Root canal therapy preserves what you already have, and your endodontist will give you an honest recommendation.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Through CareCredit, qualifying patients can break treatment into manageable monthly payments. Combined with your insurance benefits, this keeps care within reach. Your office can review the details with you.

Does insurance cover the whole treatment?

Coverage varies by plan. Many PPO plans pay a portion of root canal treatment, and your remaining share depends on your benefits and deductible. We verify all of this in advance and give you a written estimate. Call your nearest location with questions about your plan.

Does MFE accept HMO plans or Medicaid?

We are primarily in-network with PPO and fee-for-service plans. HMO plan participation varies by location. Call your nearest MFE office with your carrier name and plan ID, and we will check your coverage.

Does my annual maximum or deductible affect what I pay?

Yes. Most PPO plans have an annual deductible and a yearly maximum benefit. Our insurance coordinator reviews both when verifying your benefits, so you will have a clear picture of what your plan covers before any treatment begins.

Can I get a cost estimate before my appointment?

A precise estimate depends on an exam and X-rays, but our team can give you general information about your plan's coverage over the phone. Call any MFE location with your insurance card and we will do our best to prepare you.
