What to expect

• Your first appointment may be a consultation or a root canal treatment
• All initial appointments involve x-rays and an examination. Our endodontists will explain their findings and determine your treatment options
• Most root canal treatments are completed in one appointment

Prior to root canal therapy

• Eat breakfast or lunch as usual
• Continue taking all medications recommended by your physician. If you have a question, please call our office prior to your appointment
• If your dentist or physician has prescribed a pre-treatment antibiotic, please make sure to take this medication as directed

Your visit, start to finish

Most first visits run about 60 to 90 minutes. Here’s how that time breaks down.

   Arrival & check-in ∼ 5 min

   If you completed your forms online, check-in is fast. If not, plan to arrive 15 minutes early to fill them out.

2. 2

   X-rays & consult ∼ 15 min

   We take updated radiographs (and CBCT if indicated). Your endodontist reviews findings with you and explains your treatment options.

3. 3

   Treatment, if same-day 45–75 min

   Most root canals are completed in a single visit. Profound anesthesia is given before treatment begins, so the procedure feels like a long filling, not what your grandparents remember.

   Wrap-up & aftercare ∼ 5 min

   We send a treatment report to your referring dentist the same day. Most patients return to their general dentist within 2–4 weeks for the final crown.
